HISTORY... DEBDEN ROAD

Hello,
I have discovered that an ancestor was born in SAFFRON WALDEN and wondered if anyone may be able to offer any information on the family from which she came please.
The family name was GREENWOOD.
On the 1881 census I have JOHN (aged 44, born THAXTED)a SHOEMAKER, and his wife MARY A (aged 46, born STOKE ASH).
Their offspring were AGNES F. (12 years), EMILY F (10), MARY ANN EDITH (6), FREDERICK A (5) and EDGAR F (3).
A connection with the name WISEMAN occurs in that MARY ANN EDITH (known as EDIE) married HERBERT FREDERICK WISEMAN in 1899. I should also like to find out more about the WISEMAN family in this area. Did HERBERT live in or near to SAFFRON WALDEN?
Any help or hints would be appreciated,
